The PlantWorks Pilot Plantation Program

Head Quaters

Although many crops can take many years to mature and harvest key benefits from a single application of mycorrhizal fungi can usually be identified during the nursery stage. In many cases the cost / benefit of investing in large scale manufacture can be justified within this phase of growth.

The PlantWorks plantation programme seeks to establish tangible data on the value of commercial application of mycorrhizal fungi. The programme which is part funded by PlantWorks lasts for between 6 and 12 months and employs bespoke mixes of fungi designed using PlantWorks private mycorrhizal fungi isolate library which is one of the most comprehensive resources of its kind in the world.

The PlantWorks Plantation Programme includes:

  1. The supply 200L of tuned inoculum to the plantation.
  2. The design and monitoring of a statistically robust ‘controlled’ trial.
  3. Continual sampling and analysis of plant root structure to quantify crop dependency.
  4. The establishment of soil traps from the plantation over a 6 month period to allow native isolates to be added to the mix for commercial production.
  5. The reporting of results of the study and the production of a business plan for commercial production of mycorrhizal fungi for the client.

The cost of the PlantWorks Plantation Pilot Programme is £5000. At the conclusion of the programme, if the cost benefits are proven, a full manufacturing license can be established and the cost of the pilot programme reimbursed.
